James Plumbing and Heating Oil Co, was established in 1967 by Stephen L. James and Carol A. James. In business over 45 years Mr. and Mrs. James provided quality plumbing services for local folks and the surrounding areas. In 1995 their youngest son Tony James extended business by implementing delivering heating oil. In 2010 Tony purchased the company from his parents with an idea of growing business from plumbing services to delivering heating oil, propane and kerosene products as well as servicing heating equipment.
Tony made the decision to set up and eventually move business operations away from family home into a separate location. He selected a historical spot along the Saxtons River on the outskirts of Bellows Falls, VT. Tony’s determination for keeping local history alive led him to an enormous project in 2002 of restoring an old Paper Mill building (last known as Green Mountain Paper Mill). This Mill has historical connections to Bellows Falls, VT and its industrial time at the turn of the century.
During the restoration period of the Mill Tony’s creation transformed the old Paper Mill in to a beautiful old brick Mill with interior post and beam construction. Main restoration ideas were to preserve the original brick construction and its rustic look. As of these days some brick walls and the original smoke stack are still standing. When we walk into the office we get a feeling of the pastoral atmosphere with a strong aura of modernity. James Plumbing and Heating earned recognition by Town of Rockingham 2017 Old House.
Tony James had preserved not only the historical building, he also kept the main core of the James’ family business, which is to provide an outstanding customer service and offer 24-hour emergency full services to all customers.
